Scuba Diving

There was a saying that "Sometimes the best moments are the ones you didn't plan at all." Likewise, scuba diving we went was just a sudden plan, but it created lots of good memories. Scuba diving is offered by VGP Marine kingdom at Injambakkam, Chennai. Marine Kingdom is an underwater tunnel and a walk through aquarium. First, when we entered into the marine kingdom, our instructor asked us to fill the questionnaire about our physical fitness. After filling the questionnaire, we walked through the tunnel and enjoyed watching the variety of species there.

After finishing this, we watched a live fish feeding show.

Then our instructor took us for scuba diving. Many of us would have the doubt whether we should know swimming for scuba diving. But no need to know swimming for this. First we had a briefing session lasted for 15 to 20 minutes. That session provided  the explanation and procedures of scuba diving plus dos and don'ts of scuba diving.

I came to know that Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus was the full form of scuba, which shocked me a lot during the session. I really don't know that scuba is an acronym. Explanation about the diving suits was also given during the session. The diving suits consisted of long semi dry suit, cylinder, pressure gauge, fin socks and mask.

After completion of the  session, we were taken to the pool. There, each one of us were assigned with a well-trained diver. Divers would help us to put on our diving cylinder, mask and fin socks. The first main thing, divers told us that we should not try to swim, and also we should not try to touch the fishes there, only the divers would take us through the water by holding our cylinder at the back.

Then they taught us about the breathing techniques inside the water. We should breathe only through our mouth and also there were some problems to be handled inside the water like water entering through the mask and ear pain during diving. The divers taught us how to handle those situations.

Since the tank was deep, we got ear pain during the diving. It was caused due to the change of pressure in water. To stop the pain in our ear, we did one method called equalizing. Press the nose, inhale the air through  the mouth and try to exhale the air through the nose. Inside the water we could not able to talk, so divers taught us some hand symbols to communicate inside the water.

After the successful completion of our training, we were taken inside the tank. I had the fear at the beginning, but after seeing the fishes and the  scenery of the sea, I really enjoyed it. Viewers at the marine kingdom were amazed on seeing us, especially children.

To keep the fishes alive, the water inside the tank was directly from the sea. We were allowed to be inside the water for 45 minutes (15 minutes training and 30 minutes diving). Last 5 minutes I got shivering since the water was very cold.

The most common problem faced by all would be that ear pain during the diving. That too could be solved by the equalizing method. But for us, mild ear pain lasted for 2 days after scuba diving. As a whole, it was a nice experience. ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜€

The Joy of Gifting the Best

Giving gifts make me happier than receiving them. I was planning a gift for my sister for her birthday. Then I decided to gift an Explosion box which is a handmade gift.

First, I listed the things needed to make an explosion box. Following things are needed for the box.
  1. Black, Blue and White chart paper
  2. Blank card
  3. Fevicol
  4. White or red ribbon
  5. Color stick pens
  6. Scissor
  7. A4 paper
  8. Heart-shaped color sticker
  9. Smiley sticker
  10. 6 passport size photos

Then I purchased all the things needed. Following are the steps I followed to make this explosion box.

Step 1:  Take the black chart paper of size 30*30cm and fold at 10cm all sides. Take a 10 *10cm card and cut the card in the shape of heart. Using that heart shaped card cut all the corners in the form heart shape on the black chart paper.

Step 2: Take two blue charts of size 18*9 cm and fold at 4.5cm from both ends. Then stick both cards on two sides of the chart as shown below.

Step 3: Take the white chart of size 18*18 cm and fold it equally from both the sides. After that, fold the chart diagonally front and back.

Step 4 : Then paste that on remaining two parts along with pink ribbon.

Step 5: After that paste the blue card on to the white chart paper.

Step 6 :  Paste photos and fill all the empty cards with quotes or wishes.

Step 7: Decorate it with some stickers. Here I used heart shaped stickers.

Step 8: Take a black thick sheet of size 16.5*16.5 cm and fold it at 3cm from all sides. Then cut the corner and paste it to the other side of the sheet to make the lid for this explosion box.

Step 9: Decorate the lid using some stickers. Then close the explosion box using it.

Step 10 : Wrap the box using gift paper.

CEG Hostel diaries

Hostel life is the combination of experience, adjustments, celebrations, late night studies, late wake up, breaking rules, money management, etc. I enjoyed a lot in the CEG hostel (College of Engineering, Guindy, Chennai).

First I started my hostel life in 'Roja hostel'one of the girls hostels in CEG which was allocated only for first years. I got the best gang of friends from first year itself. We usually stay together in the same room, 'Room no 204' even though we all had our separate rooms. During nighttime, we would hear songs in the FM radio by sitting in the veranda of our hostel. Our main hobby would be playing shuttle. For bathing, we  had to wait for 1 hour by keeping our bucket outside the bathroom in the line. Due to this reason, most of the time we would be 5 mins late for the 1st hour class. On December 12 and 13, 2016, Chennai was badly affected by vardah cyclone. But we enjoyed that by taking selfies in the rain, and our classes and exams also cancelled for one week. After that we had our semester exams and first year ended well.

For second year, we were allotted to 'Nandhiya Hostel', another hostel for girls in CEG. This 'Room no S13' was an apartment type. It had one hall, two bedrooms and one kitchen. So 12 members of our class allotted to this room. 4 members in hall, 4 members in one room and 4 members in another room. We  kept our luggage in the kitchen. A group of four in a room itself would be funny, but this time we were a group of 12 in the same place. We all used to watch horror movies in weekend together at night. Sometimes we would be playing snake and ladders. Every thursday in college mess night dinner would be  poori. No one in our gang like poori at night. So monthly one thursday, any two from our gang would go to kotturpuram and get all our favorite foods parceled. Then we would sit together and have our dinner.

For third year, we were allotted to 'Mullai Hostel', 'Room no 67'. Along with us, monkeys also stayed in that hostel. If our room door was open, they would enter and would take away all the snacks we were having in the cupboard. Near that hostel we had one coffee hut, a small coffee shop. They sold coffee, soup, horlicks, hot chocolate, boost, green tea, cup maggi, frooti, various types of biscuits, lays packets, ginger tea and snickers. My friend was a coffee addict. So we often visited that coffee hut. Whenever I visited that hut, I would buy hot chocolate and I loved that a lot. Due to the presence of that coffee hut, mulai hostel became our favorite hostel.

Fourth year, 7th semester, we had to do our internship in an IT company. None of my friends got placed in the company where I did internship. Company location was maduravoyal and office timing was 9.30 am to 6.30 pm.  It took more time to reach our CEG hostel from office. So I took PG near that company itself. But my friends stayed in our college hostel. For six months I had to stay alone in different hostel without my friends. I missed my friends, and they also missed me a lot. So for my birthday they asked me to come to our college hostel. Then they celebrated my birthday with a choco truffle cake.

I did not able to forget those moments as well as the taste of that cake. After six months, we had completed our internship. From 8th semester onwards our regular classes would be starting, so I vacated my PG then I shifted to my college hostel, but I could not able to get the same room where my friends were staying, my friends stayed in mullai hostel. I got room in 'Malligai Extension' which was located next to mullai hostel and alotted in ground floor 'Room no 3'. But most of the time I would be in my friends' room. From 8th semester, we had developed a habit of walking around the college after our dinner. Then, we would be playing cards at night. Since we had only one  year left, we planned to enjoy that semester very well. But unluckily, corona started to spread everywhere. So the government announced lockdown throughout the state. After that, 8th semester ended with online classes.

Fifth year, 9th semester, was fully gone on online classes and online exams. No hostel, so no enjoyment. That was our final year, but we could not able to spend time in college and hostel. Finally, we came to 10th semester, that semester also we had to complete our internship. This time also, none of my friends were with me. We all got internship in different companies. I got internship in a company which was located in Guindy. So this time I didn't take any PG, instead I stayed in my college hostel itself. Due to corona, only final year students had college, so hostel committee decided to allocate room in 'Roja hostel'. I got room in second floor 'Room no 267'. As per government rules, only one student should be allotted in one room in order to prevent the spread of corona among the hostel students, so I was alone in my room. Final year gone with report submission, thesis submission, reviews and viva. At last, my CEG hostel life started and ended in roja hostel itself.

College Memories

Anna University B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch admission for Other state ...

Everyone has only 4 years to enjoy their college life. But we are lucky since we have 5 years (MSc. Integrated).  Once we entered our college at Anna University, we were welcomed with freshers day. Agni, Techofes, Kurukshetra were our college cultural functions. For us, photo booths and food stalls were the most important things during our cultural.

6 Awesome places to visit in Mysore - RailYatri Blog

We went to Bangalore, Chikmagalur, and Mysore for our industrial visit. Mysore palace, buttermilk falls, Mullayangiri, Tippu jail, Brindavan garden, Samundeeswari temple, Nandhi hills, Shravanabelagola, and Wonderla are the places covered.

Can you post some pictures of the classrooms and the other ...

Our batch perfectly attends each and every class, purposely we won't bunk classes but during exams, no one would attend the classes properly. We were asked to meet the HOD before the next class. Mathrix was the maths department symposium. We would be having one workshop and five to six events.

Kurinji Hostel, Anna University - Hostel For Boy Students in ...

Hostels are the home for hostelers. We actually enjoyed it a lot here. We spend time playing cards, shuttle, reading books, always talking about our future, watching movies, and also reading for exams. Watching IPL with our friends was the most fun-filled moment in the hostel. All the hostel students gathered at the tv hall and there was the sound "Dhoni Dhoni Dhoni". The sad part was that we also got our end semester exam along with the IPL. We celebrated our birthdays with cake cutting and snow sprays. Even though it's not a big celebration, we found happiness in celebrating our birthday with our friends.

Aavin Parlour, Mylapore, Chennai - Desserts, Fast Food, Ice Cream ...

Usually, I and my friends buy kulfi ice at aavin hub near the media science department. Most of the time my kulfi ice was grabbed and eaten by monkeys and that monkeys won't disturb my friends. They like only my kulfi. So after that, I stopped buying ice cream in the aavin hub.

Ar En Ar Ceg Canteen, Anna University, Chennai - Mess - Justdial

The canteen was the savior if we had 8.30 classes. We won't eat our breakfast during our 8.30 classes. After the class was over, we had our breakfast here. If we had just fifty rupees we can be able to finish both breakfast and lunch in our canteen because all foods here cost only within 50 rupees. The cheapest and the best one ever.

Photos at Anna University Cafe Coffee Day - Anna University (Guindy)

Thursday night we would be provided with fried rice in our mess, the most hated food by my friends. So Thursday night without fail we would be gathering in the coffee hut near our hostel. The hot chocolate was the most favorite drink for me. Usually, my friends would buy coffee, Horlicks, boost, and biscuits.

Can you post some pictures of the classrooms and the other ...

Most of the birthday treats were in the knowledge park hut. Here we like to eat noodles and sandwiches with ice-tea. Most of the college students spend some time here.

Anna University: Colleges, Courses, Fees, Ranking, Admission 2020

The cultural functions in our college were conducted near this gallery. And for group study, we would be gathering here. But in the name of group study, we simply spent the time turning the pages and after that, we started to talk.

Once we had free time during our class, we made a funny video during that time which was an unforgettable one.

Apart from education, we learned how to adjust with hostel mates, how to organize an event, etc...Friends play an important role in college life. I hope we will be in touch throughout our lifetime.
